I'm a newbie to this site. I used to be a programmer.  One of the languages I've worked in was basic. I wrote in basic years ago.  I'd like to do some coding here.  How do I start?

Welcome.  If you have not downloaded and installed Purebasic, then do so now.  I used to do a lot of Basic programming years ago myself.  I started out with Commodore Basic  and later, after purchasing an Atari 1040ST, I programmed in GFA Basic.

Purebasic is a great Basic dialect and very easy to learn. As much as most people hate to do it, I recommend reading the manual.  Get to know the keywords and the built-in functions. If you look in the Purebasic Database Programming forum you will see this post: http://www.codeinbasic.com/index.php?topic=149.0
This is my very first program that I wrote as a newbie using Purebasic and you can download it to see how it works.  It is called Prehistoric Life and while it may not be great, it is an example of what you can do using Purebasic for the first time.

Sorry for the late response, my wife has been ill for quite a while and I have not been on the forum as much lately.  I'll try to get on more often.  If you have any other questions, please ask in the appropriate forum and we'll try to get you an answer.

Cheers,

John
